What is a Harold Team?

A Harold Team is usually between 8 and 10 people that regularly rehearse, practicing a type of long-form improvisation known as "The Harold." The SEI Harold Teams don't just stick to "strict" Harolds though: they explore, create, and organically develop the form to suit their own style and tastes. People who come out to see Harold nights will get to see different versions of a Harold done by different teams all on one night.
To quote Del Close and Charna Halpern, "if honesty is the best road to comedic improvisation, the best vehicle to get us there is Harold. Simply put, it is the ultimate in improvisation." Harold is the premier structure for long-form improvisation that incorporates all of the developments and discoveries that have occurred up until now. Del also compared creating a Harold to building a 747 from scratch in mid-flight! It's both terrifying and exhilarating at the same time.
